Gold Rush 2008, Drilling for Black Gold, will roar in like a hundred express trains Saturday, October 18th at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center! We will be celebrating the excitement of our historic 1930’s East Texas oil boom as well as marking the 25th year that our generous community has supported Gold Rush.

The 25th anniversary of Gold Rush will be an extraordinary occasion which means a truly exceptional project has been chosen for this year’s proceeds.

The Breast Center at Good Shepherd Medical Center will offer northeast Texans the latest digital technology that will help identify problems immediately during the exam without waiting on traditional x-ray films. It will also offer stereo tactic, bone density and ultrasound testing in a peaceful, comfortable setting.

We whoop and holler for all ‘wildcatters and derrick dolls’ to partner with Gold Rush and Good Shepherd Medical Center in making Drilling for Black Gold the biggest BOOM celebration ever! Join us in supporting The Breast Center at Good Shepherd Medical Center and commemorating our amazing East Texas heritage and 25th Gold Rush anniversary. It will be a knee-slappin’, oil-gushin good time!

Mattie’s Ballroom (a favorite hang out among the 1930’s wildcatters) will come alive as Gold Rush guests dance to a mixture of tunes by "The Pictures" from Austin. Whether you prefer dancing to hits from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, top 40, country, disco or funk, you’ll be stepping higher than a Dad Joiner gusher.
